The Sponge Docks

This is the heart of the Greek community of Tarpon Springs.  Apart from offering sponge shops, it has many Greek resturants, and also offers boat tours.

Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral (website)

The Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral

A prominent church designed in a Byzantine style, featuring marble quarried at Mount Penteli recieved as a gift from the Greek government. It is modeled in part after the Hadia Sophia in Turkey. Check out the annual Epiphany celebration it holds on January 16th.

The Safford House Museum

Anson P. K. Safford, one of the city's original founders, resided in the house, pictured on the right. Visiting this is house takes you back to the late 1800s, where the house is filled with period furnishings and the family's riches. This house allows visitors to see a perfect example of Florida life more than 100 years ago.

Tarpon Springs Heritage Museum

The Heritage Museum in Tarpon Springs, set in Craig Park overlooking Spring Bayou, features two wings: one on local history with a focus on the Greek community, sponge industry, and Native American artifacts, and the other showcasing artist Christopher M. Still’s “The Great State of Florida” exhibit with originals, reproductions, a documentary, and QR-code video tour.
